Cobalt green and cobalt blue are synonymous with the magnificent Whitsunday region. The Whitsundays collection is inspired by the colour and texture of the landscape, landmarks, water and sea life that make this location unique. Using cobalt green and cobalt blue as a dominant colour palate for this collection, D’Arcy creates representational plein air paintings from the north west of Hamilton Island looking towards idyllic Pentecost Island and semi-abstract plein air paintings from Whitehaven Beach. Her ‘Refraction series’ depicting hyper-real swimming and diving sea green turtles painted in oils with an under painting of acrylic, aims to capture sunlit water and texture into blocks and moments of time.
